It’s called The Vault. And it might just be the most beautifully designed speakeasy in Arizona.

Stepping into the newly remodeled gift shop at the Heard Museum in Phoenix is an experience in itself. Every detail, from the hand-carved wood to the hand-stitched leather, tells a story of craftsmanship and cultural preservation.

As a retail photographer based in Arizona, I had the privilege of photographing Lilly Pulitzer’s newest location in the Scottsdale Quarter. This project was all about bringing the brand’s signature light, bright, and colorful aesthetic to life through carefully crafted images.

When I got the call in June 2023 to photograph all 29 Dutch Bros locations in Arizona—the largest franchise in the company—I was stoked. For me, Dutch Bros isn’t just a coffee brand; it’s where I spent six and a half years making coffee, making friends, and, oh yeah, meeting my wife over a decade ago.

As an architectural photographer, capturing the perfect exterior shot of a home requires mastering the interplay of light throughout the day. To illustrate, I’ll use example images of a modern concrete home in the Joshua Tree desert, all taken from the same spot over two hours.
